FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does Blue Lagoon provide a lock for the storage space?
Each tenant provides the lock for their own unit. We suggest a stainless steel disc lock which
can be purchased at our office for $9.00. They are also available at WalMart ($9.79) and
Menards.

How do I pay my monthly bill?
We give you several options to make your monthly payment; cash, check or credit card.
With our AutoPay program, we can automatically charge your debit or credit card (MC, Visa,
Discover, or AMEX) each month. And as always, you can stop by our office on Blairs Ferry
Road to pay your bill. Office hours are 10:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday-Friday.

Am I renting the space month-to-month or am I on a lease?
Your contract is a month-to-month agreement with Blue Lagoon. You can move out
whenever you want once you fulfill the one month minimum.

Do you require a 30 day notice to move out?
Blue Lagoon requires a 10 day notice to move out. If a move out notice is not given, the
client is responsible for an additional 10 days of rent.

Do I get a discount if I commit to a longer stay?
Talk to our Manager for our Long Term Discounts.

Who is responsible for the contents of my unit?
The client is responsible for the contents of the unit. Contact your insurance company about
coverage for your belongings.

Can we put items directly on the floor?
We suggest the use of wood strips (or pallets) on the floor to prevent any moisture.
If you are using a combination of plastic containers and cardboard, place the card board
boxes on top of the plastic containers.

When is my rent due and what happens if I am late?
Rent is due on, or before the 1st of each month. Blue Lagoon does offer a ten day
grace period. If the rent is not paid by the 10th, on the 11th day, late fees will be added to
your account and you will be denied access to the facility. You will need to pay your rent by
cash or cashier's check to get immediate access. If paying by personal check, there is a 3-
day waiting period to clear bank.
A reminder notice is mailed on the 15th.
If the rent remains unpaid, a “Lien Notice” is sent after 30 days and we will claim a Lien
against the property in the storage unit.
On the 45th day, we will send you a letter notifying you that your lock has been cut off
and operator will take possession of leased space. We will inventory all items and take
pictures of the unit and there will be a $50.00 inventory charge added to your total bill. We
may elect to leave the contents in the unit with rental fees accruing, until sold or the
contents may be stored in a different place.
On the 60th day, we will send you a "Notice Of Sale" letter showing the date and time of
the sale of all contents in the unit. In addition; a $40.00 sale fee and a $25.00 publication
fee will be assessed to your account and the information will be published in the paper. Any
partial payment for less than the total amount will not prevent a sale, unless agreed to by
the Operator in writing. In accordance with Iowa Law, the sale will be held approximately 90
days from the date of your default and proceeds will be first applied to the rent due on your
account. Any balance remaining after all rent, charges, penalties, and the expenses of sale
will be forwarded to the renter's address as listed in the rental agreement.
